Jon Oates joins Blu Wireless as new Chief Financial Officer

Bristol-based technology company, Blu Wireless, today announced that Jon Oates has been appointed new Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of Directors.

Jon is an accomplished executive with over 16 years’ experience in the technology industry. With a degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol, Jon has worked with technology companies since 2004. He has held senior management roles in companies ranging from semiconductors to wireless communications. Early in his career he worked at Icera, a Bristol based semiconductor company that designed modem chips for cellular dongles. During his time there, he played a key part in growing the business, resulting in a head count increase from 30 to 300 worldwide and significant revenues prior to its sale to Nvidia. He later joined IPWireless, a cellular communications company focused on the public safety market, principally in the United States. Before his appointment at Blu Wireless, he lent his expertise to a number of early stage companies, focussing on fundraising and supporting the senior management teams in delivering against commercial strategies.

Experienced in scaling up company growth and delivering against key strategic objectives, Jon’s appointment is an integral addition to the board and Senior Management Team. On his new appointment he stated: “The opportunity to be involved in a communications company, that is at the forefront of new wireless technology, is what first drew me to join Blu Wireless. After speaking to the team and the investors, it quickly became clear that the mmWave multi-gigabit market is growing rapidly and innovators such as Blu Wireless continue to set new technology benchmarks in this space.
